The World Canine Association recognizes four sizes of the Poodle breed which presents in many coat colors as standard, medium, miniature,
and toy. The poodle breed originated in Germany as a water dog. As early as the 15th and 16th century it was depicted in drawings by the
German artist Albrecht Dürer. The miniature variety was favored in England for truffle hunting and preferred due to its small size which
caused less damage to the truffles due to their small feet. However the dog was very popular among Victorian and Georgian women as a
“lap dog”. With the founding of the Kennel Club in the 1870’s they were one of the first dog breeds registered.
We have the honor of presenting “Snow Legend” on the cover of this issue of the IJVM. He is recognized as the Israel Grand Champion
and is a candidate for recognition as the International Champion. He was bred at the “Derch Hameshi” kennel from Kiryat Ekron, Israel.
